It's been a while sense we wrote about Tiktok, so here is a new blog post about some things to think about while working on Tiktok!

Things like how Storytelling, Humor and Cover titles can add value to your video and making you go viral, making more likes and making your brand more relatable. There are many rules to a platform and questions like how to please the algorithm, but how about instead we ask how to please the person watching the video? What do they want to see and how can they find your video?

By using Storytelling and Humor in your Tiktok video, it will resolve the issue on how to relate to your customers. But also, adding cover titles is a easily forgotten tool, that might help your customer finding that specific video you have. So why not start using all of these three tips?

Read all about them below and see which one applies to you!

Storytelling

There has been a lot of "nagging" about Storytelling when it comes to marketing and especially content marketing. But many people do really underestimate the impact it has on a video, how it makes people stay longer on your video and how to use it in practical terms. Storytelling stands as one of the most persuasive techniques, often proving more impactful than merely presenting facts and statistics. Stories resonate deeply with us as humans, a connection that traces back to our earliest ancestors.

Storytelling in TikTok videos can captivate viewers, making the content more memorable and engaging. A well-crafted story can evoke emotions, foster a deeper connection with the audience, and drive higher engagement rates. So, how to use it in practical terms? Here are some examples:

Your Transformation Story

  • Video Concept: Showcase a persons journey and how they improved.
  • Details: Begin with clips of the person describing the initial struggles or challenges they faced. Transition to the moment they discover they need a change and start changing their lives, detailing how it helped them overcome their problems and the emotions they experienced along the way. Conclude with the person reflecting on the positive impact and transformation in their life, sharing what they learned and how viewers can apply these lessons to their own lives.
  • Example: A influencer shares their story about their mental health journey, starting with clips of the influencer talking about the beginning of their struggles with anxiety, depression or something else, followed by what they did to help themselves, maybe more details of the emotions they discovered during their journey and concluding with where the influencer is today in their mental health journey, what they learned and how the viewer can use their lessons to help themselves.
  • Why this makes people relate: Many people struggle today with mental health issues, and by this influencer sharing a persona story about themselves, people with the same issue can relate. Also, by sharing a journey, the story about how the influencer helped themselves, the viewer can feel hope and encouragement to try these tips themselves.

Customer Success Story

  • Video Concept: Showcase a customer's journey using your service. In this case: a meal prep service.
  • Details: Begin with clips of your customer discussing the initial struggles they faced trying to balance work, parenting, and meal preparation. Transition to the moment when they discovers and starts using your meal prep service, detailing how it alleviated their stress and provided convenient, nutritious meals for their family.
  • Example: Your customer is speaking about a struggle they had when trying to balance work, parenting, and meal preparation. They were really overwhelmed and really go into details about the stuggles and emotions. Also expressed their vision of what they want instead of this. They realised that they needed some help and something needed to change. They share that they found something to try, and OMG, it changed so much in their life! They share details on exactly it changed their everyday life and how it feels now later on. Also share some tips on how to use your service to the ultimate.
  • Why this makes people relate: Many struggle with balancing everyday life, so it's highly relatable. This story resonates with many viewers who face similar challenges in their daily lives. and by sharing this personal journey from stress to relief with your meal prep service, you connects emotionally with viewers who may be looking for ways to simplify their own routines.  Also, by sharing details on how your customer used the service, make people understand how they themselves can use it and relate of they have a similar problem.

Use humor

Don't be afraid to use humor in videos. Being to serious can be a bit boring, but you don't have to give up your serious company ideal while using humour in the video. Self-expression on TikTok is a story best told through humor!

With creators tapping into relatable experiences and multi-layered jokes to inspire joy and action. Static and image-only jokes and memes have a big place on Tiktok. More engaging and inclusive humor that uniquely delights our users is the key! Therefore, it’s crucial that you and your company master the unique nuances of TikTok humor in order to establish a positive reputation on the platform.

Here are some examples from the company Semrush, who's social media manager mainly uses humour on the platform and is spreading the company name on the platform successfully.

Use cover titles in your videos

Why using titles in you videos? Well, titles offer clarity and context to your videos. They summarize the main message, highlight key points, or tease intriguing aspects, encouraging viewers to watch based on their interests. This additional layer of information can make your content more compelling and increase viewer retention.

Furthermore, using consistent cover titles contributes to your brand's identity on TikTok. It helps distinguish your videos from others and reinforces your unique style or approach, making your profile more recognizable and memorable to your audience.

How to add an cover tittle in your video on Tiktok:

  • Choose the video in your drafts that you want to add the title cover on.
  • Edit it and then choose Next so you come to the page where you add text and choose cover photo etc.
  • Click on select cover in the right upper corner.
  • Down at the bottom you can scroll through different text design, choose the one you like.
  • Write the cover title and Save.
  • Finish editing your video and then Post.
