Have you ever thought about how colors can influence you when you shop or see advertisements? The fact is that colors affect our subconscious and can shape how we perceive brands, ads, and products. For example, when you see red, you probably associate it with STOP, WARNING or attention, right? So, by understanding color psychology, you can create more effective campaigns and strengthen your brand.

Content:

  1. Colors create emotions and associations

  2. Use color to increase conversions

  3. Build a strong brand identity with colors

Colors create emotions and associations

As mentioned earlier, different colors and shades evoke different emotions.
For example:

  • Blue is often associated with security and trust (used by banks and hospitals to create a calm and safe feeling).

  • Red creates a sense of energy, urgency, and attention (perfect for sales and promotions to "rush" the customer into buying or to stand out more among other ads).

  • Green is often linked to health and sustainability (popular among eco-friendly brands).

By choosing the right color, you can control how your brand is perceived and influence customer decisions.

Use color to increase conversions

The right color choices can boost sales and engagement. Various studies show that:

  • Red and orange purchase buttons often result in higher conversion rates than blue or green ones.

  • Yellow can also be used to grab attention, but it should be used sparingly as it can also be perceived as a warning color, just like red. Therefore, you shouldn’t mix red and yellow, as they compete for attention.

  • Black, gold, or purple can create a sense of luxury, which can enhance premium products.

Test different colors in your web design and ads to see what works best for your target audience.

Build a strong brand identity with colors

Strong brands use consistent colors to become easily recognizable. Just like a company uses the same font, it also needs to have standard colors so that people can immediately recognize an ad or post from that company. Some examples:

  • Coca-Cola – Clearly uses the color red.

  • Facebook – Uses blue in its logo.

  • Starbucks – Has a green color, perhaps to symbolize sustainability?

By maintaining a consistent color palette in your logo, ads, and website, you create a stronger identity and increase customers' recognition of your company/brand.

Summary

Colors are powerful tools in marketing. By using the right color strategy, you can create the right emotions, influence conversions, and build a strong brand identity.
